Mohammad Reza Shafiei Kadkani who was born in 1939 is a Persian writer, poet, literary critic, editor, and translator.
He was Born in Kadkan region, Nishaboor, Razavi Khorasan, Shafiei-Kadkani spent elementary and Junior high school in Mashahd but he never studied in school. His father thought him Arabic Literature and language and Fegh. He and his classmate Ayat-Allah Khamenei were under supervision of Ayat Allah Milani. He was graduated from Tehran University with a doctorate degree in Persian literature. He was a student of prominent figures as Badiozzaman Forouzanfar, Mohammad Moin, and Parviz Natel-Khanlari.
He is considered as Akhavan Thaleth’s close friend and he is interested in his poetries. Dr. Kadkani left Iran to the United State in September 5th 1388 and went to Preston University for an opportunity of studying. He also concentrates on Iranian and Islamic culture and has paid attention to western culture and literature recreantly. His book about articles and imagination indicate that he knows very well about Persian and Arabic literature, rhymes and poetry.
He is currently professor of literature at Tehran University. Shafiei-Kadkani is known for his works on literary criticism and modern Persian poetry.
He began writing poetry in classic style but after a time he turned to new poetry and gradually he recites Nimaei poetry style. Shafiei’s art works can be classified in two groups including his poetries and critique group. His critique group consists of correction of Persian Classic works and writing literature articles. Among his work of art Music of Poetry and Neishaboor garden are considered as Shafiei’s great works of art.
Wisper, Methle Derakht dar Shab Baran, corection of Mokhtarnameh, Corection of Mosibatnameh, Corection of Manteghoteyr, Halat va Maghamat M.Omid,Zabour-I Parsi: Night bih zindaghi va ghazalhaye Attar, Shairi dar hujum I muntaqidan: Naqd I adabi dar sabuk I hindi, Avaz-i bad va baran, Guzidah-i ashar, Bu-ye Ju-ye Muliān, in the mirror of the stream, Ayeneh dar Ayeneh, Bargozideh are some of his works of art.
Shafiei Kadkani has said about Attar “if we ignore Shams Tabrizi Divan, Attar ‘s Qazals are the main sample of Persian Qazal. I have to point that I donot mean that part of Persian qazal influenced Arabic including Fakhredin Araqi and Shams Maqrebi and even Hafez. I mean that part of Persian Qazal found in Molavi’s divan.
He has laso said about Shamloo “ Shamloo’s famous and reputation id due to his continuous attempt in newspaper”.
