TEHRAN (Asremrooz):According to FNA dispatches, the army’s artillery units and air force pounded several locations in Barzeh al-Balad neighborhood in Damascus, and inflicted heavy losses on the armed rebels. The Syrian army also made major advances and gained control of more than 30 percent of the Barzeh al-Balad farms.

Meantime, the army killed tens of terrorists and injured dozens more near Tishreen Military Hospital and in Al-Hanbali street.

The army also continued its mop-up operations in Zarzour, Al-Qani and Al-Qaderiya districts in Jasr Al-Shaqour city in Reef Idlib, killing tens of armed rebels and injuring dozens more.

The conflict in Syria started in March 2011, when sporadic pro-reform protests turned into a massive insurgency following the intervention of western and regional states.

The unrest, which took in terrorist groups from across Europe, the Middle-East and North Africa, has transpired as one of the bloodiest conflicts in recent history.

As the foreign-backed insurgency in Syria continues without an end in sight, the US government has boosted its political and military support to Takfiri extremists.

Washington has remained indifferent to warnings by Russia and other world powers about the consequences of arming militant groups.
