Iran denies reports on involvement in cyber attacks against US companies
Iran's mission in the UN rejected reports about its involvement in cyber attacks against the US companies, calling for boosting international laws to confront such attacks.

TEHRAN (Asremrooz):"Although Iran has been under a long-lasting wave of cyber attacks targeting its civilian nuclear installations, power plant, oil terminals and other industrial sectors, it has never hit back with cyber attacks. Moreover, contrary to what has been said by the article's writer, Iran has never embarked on such attacks against its Persian Gulf neighbors with whom Iran has friendly relations," said Head of Press Department of Iran's mission to the UN Alireza Mir-Yousefi.
His remarks came after the New York Times in an article claimed that cyber attacks against the US companies are on the rise.
Yousefi also added that Iran as a current Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) President and a responsible member of the international community asks for promoting international legal means to confront cyber attacks.
He further described 'cyber security' as an 'international issue' which goes beyond borders of countries and needs 'collective efforts' of responsible countries for reaching a comprehensive international agreement similar to the ones on nuclear, biologic and chemical weapons.
Also the Wall Street Journal has claimed that Iran has hacked American power, oil and gas companies. The American daily said the hackers could get access to control system software which allows them to monitor oil and gas pipelines, and the penetration was so vast that had raised concerns.
